Since you appreciate the works of Edward S. Curtis you should see the new film about him. THE INDIAN PICTURE OPERA, is a re-creation of his legendary 1911-1912 magic lantern slide show. It is awesome, I found the dvd on Amazon. It goes way beyond the photographs themselves. Its a journey into the tribes of Americas west.

Thank you, Jay. I haven't seen it yet, but will make that a priority later this month.
