Marian McPartland, still going strong

It's hard not to find Marian McPartland inspiring. Now ninety years old, she still plays the piano and has her own radio show. It should happen to all of us!

Owl (and more)

I just love this Burrowing owl.

This photographer who caught that one has a number of fine photographs at his site  -- check out this Vermillion flycatcher

San Miniato

Today is Sunday and therefore time to go to church.  Here is the exterior, and here the interior, of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte, just outside Florence, Italy.    And now the interior again, but this time in black and white.

Bonus:  A rather astonishing statue in the cemetery behind the basilica.

Lady piper

You don't see this very often -- a lady piper in a fifteenth-century manuscript.
