Native American Storage Jars

These two items might look a bit ordinary at first glance, but if you look at the enlargements, you'll see something quite impressive --

  • Black-and-White Storage Jar with Abstract Geometric Motifs, 1890s, Ácoma, New Mexico, United States (ceramic  earthenware  and pigment)

  • Polychrome Storage Jar with Macaw and Floral Motifs, 1880s, Ácoma, New Mexico, United States (ceramic  earthenware  and pigment)

    Joseph Holmes, photographer

    Today we have the work of nature photographer Joseph Holmes.

    Holmes' online Gallery thus far contains 118 fine photos.  Here are some that I particularly liked --

  • Redbud, Arizona;

  • Meadow, California;
  • Yosemite, California;

  • Alpenglow, Utah;
  • Cactus, Utah;
  • Cottonwood, Utah;
  • Wildflowers, Utah;
  • All of the above-listed pictures are of the western United States.   I think that my favorite, however, just might be this one from the East -

  • Blueberries and granite, Maine.
