Ciara, when I looked at the photos you linked to today, I remembered that my grandfather was in Ireland in 1919 and that I have a letter, marked "OPENED BY CENSOR," which he wrote to my grandmother. I got it out and looked and it and found that he stayed in what is now Irish National Park at Killarney and went on the Gap of Dunloe trip on Easter Day of 1919. He mentions Carrantuohill, the Black Valley, Ross Castle, the Isle of Innisfallen and Muckross Abbey. Thank you so much for jogging my memory of my grandfather. He visited Ireland after WWI ended, before he returned to the U.S.A. It was my grandmother's family who originally came from Ireland, but I am sure my grandmother never visited Ireland.
