The painting of the day for today at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. is St. Martin and the Beggar, c. 1597, by El Greco. Great colors!

Just got back from Dublin, and in the National Gallery there, one of the standout paintings is an El Greco--his portrait of St. Francis. I am always stunned by how modern, how timeless, how ever-relevant El Greco's paintings are. How fitting that I should return home and find El Greco--and another favorite saint--featured here! Always a treat! Keep up the good work!
