Rules (of life)

I've always been attracted by the idea of a "rule of life," something along the lines of the Rule of St. Benedict but for a layperson, a man or woman living in the secular world. A woman such as myself. Last night I started gathering together some links and materials about such matters.

A good place to start might be this introductory page at the St. John's Cathedral site. That page leads into two short essays by people actually attempting to live by a personal "rule":

A lawyer's statement;

A musician's thoughts.

Excellent post! I like the musician's quote from Jan Paderewski and the lawyer's noting how imperfect he was.
