I found these questions on a university site. They seem like the perfect questions to ask of college students. And like the questions we should all keep in mind, at every stage of our lives.
What are my talents and gifts and the deep desires that accompany them?
What kind of work gives me joy and energy?
How can I preserve and enhance the goodness and beauty I have discovered around me?
We need, I think, to live in a beautiful atmosphere. I haven't said that before because I'm usually afraid that it's impossible, that it's asking too much.
Bob Herbert's column in today's New York Times gives me courage to believe otherwise. It's about schools and the atmosphere a school needs to be great. Just reading it is exciting and life-giving.
